Planned power outages to improve reliability in Cheney area

CHENEY, Wash. – Residents in Cheney and the surrounding areas should prepare for a series of planned power outages this September.

Cheney Light, Inland Power and Avista are collaborating to enhance substation services, which will temporarily disrupt power.

The outages will occur on the following dates:

– September 8 from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. affecting the Four Lakes substation for approximately one hour.

– September 18 from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. impacting both Four Lakes and Cheney substations for about two hours.

– September 23 from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. also affecting Four Lakes and Cheney substations for roughly two hours.

– September 25 from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. impacting the Four Lakes substation for two hours.

Officials have stated that these dates might change, with at least 48 hours’ notice provided. Updates will be posted on the City of Cheney’s website.
