SPOKANE, Wash. — One of Spokane’s most beloved summer traditions, Pig Out in the Park, is ending its 44-year run, organizers announced.
Bill Burke, who has organized the annual six-day free music and food festival, made the decision after discussions with the Six Bridges Arts Association Board of Directors, major event sponsors, friends and family members.
The announcement marks the end of an era for the festival that has drawn millions of attendees to Riverfront Park.
Pig Out in the Park has served as a signature summer event featuring live music, local food vendors and free admission for families.
Burke described the decision as difficult. The festival has required extensive coordination among organizations, vendors, musicians, volunteers, sponsors and city staff to manage the large-scale event.
The announcement comes as many community events nationwide have faced challenges related to rising costs and logistical complexities.
Burke and the organizing team expressed gratitude for the community support that has sustained the festival throughout its run.
