
KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – Pete Holley has been appointed as the permanent Fire Chief for Kootenai County Fire & Rescue (KCFR), following a unanimous decision by the Board of Fire Commissioners. The announcement came after their meeting on December 15, 2025.
Holley had been serving as the Interim Fire Chief during a significant period of transition for the organization. His tenure has been characterized by stability and transparency, according to the board.
Commission Chair Andy Boyle highlighted Holley’s dedication, saying, “Chief Holley has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to this organization and the community we serve. His professionalism, steady leadership, and clear ‘service-first’ mindset have been evident throughout his time as Interim Chief. The board is confident that his dedication and work ethic will continue to move KCFR in the right direction.”
