Pend Oreille firefighters respond to house fire in Ione

PEND ORIELLE, Wash. – Pend Oreille County firefighters worked with Kalispell Tribal Fire and Ione firefighters to respond to a house fire.

The fire was reported around noon on Thursday. Firefighters from the Ione Station responded to the scene at Houghton Street and were joined later by the other departments.

The Pend Oreille County Fire District #2 said the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes of arrival and, through an aggressive interior attack, the house was saved.

Firefighters’ efforts contained the fire to the front living room and a second-story bedroom and no injuries or fatalities were reported, District #2 said.

“A huge THANK YOU to our outstanding mutual aid partners from the Kalispel Tribe (Kalispel Tribal Fire) and Pend Oreille County Fire District 5 for their rapid response and critical support. Teamwork like this saves homes and lives!” District #2 wrote.

The full response lasted around three hours while firefighters worked to fully contain, overhaul and secure the scene, District #2 reported.
