SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Authorities are investigating a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Thursday morning in the 9300 block of East Montgomery Avenue, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

Around 7 a.m., a male SCSO volunteer was driving a county-owned vehicle when he reportedly struck a pedestrian who was crossing East Montgomery Avenue.

Spokane Valley deputies and Traffic Unit Investigators, as well as the Spokane Valley Fire Department and AMR, responded to the scene. The adult female pedestrian was provided medical treatment, then taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The pedestrian sustained injuries that authorities believe to be non-life-threatening.

The SCSO volunteer who was driving the vehicle reported the incident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Initial findings suggest that neither speed nor impairment contributed to the collision. The Washington State Patrol is conducting an independent investigation at SCSO’s request.
