PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco Police Department is hosting the 2025 Pacific Northwest Police Detection Dog Association Narcotic and Explosive Detection Conference this week.

The event brings together top instructors and trainers from various law enforcement agencies over five days from May 19 – 23.

Participants are receiving training from notable instructors such as Andy Weiman from the U.S. Secret Service, as well as experts from the FBI and NYPD.

The event began with a welcoming session on Monday, where Chief Roske of the Pasco Police Department was honored with a plaque by PNW K9 President Gunner Fulmer. Andy Weiman then led an in-depth class, sharing his extensive experience in drug investigation and K9 training.

On Tuesday, participants attended practical exercises and received a presentation from the United States Secret Service Critical Protective Analysis Group. The session covered terrorist trends and tactics that impact the protection of soft targets, hard targets, and VIPs.

Throughout the week, both narcotic and explosive detection dogs will engage in training exercises at various sites, including the Toyota Center, Bergstrom Aircraft and Ranch and Home. The handlers will learn from seasoned trainers with years of experience in the field.
