SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner has reported that 344 people died from overdoses in 2025, a slight decrease from 346 reported the previous year.
Methamphetamine was identified as the most common drug involved in these cases, followed by fentanyl. The Medical Examiner noted that most overdose cases involved multiple substances simultaneously.
On a national scale, drug-related deaths decreased by 25% from 2023 to 2024. Spokane County has historically lagged behind both state and national trends, suggesting that a similar decline may occur in Eastern Washington once the data from last year is released.
