OTHELLO, Wash. – After a series of reports about stolen packages, the Othello Police Department released a post asking the community to help identify a suspect in their package-theft investigation.

The suspect is believed to be involved in a series of package thefts in various neighborhoods throughout Othello, wrote the police department.

Package thefts typically happen during the day when residents are away at work or school, the department said.

The department believes the suspect has been targeting homes where packages had been recently delivered and left unattended.

Investigation is ongoing, but “we believe that with the community’s help, we can expedite the process and prevent further thefts,” wrote the department.

The department asked for anyone who recognizes the person in the photo to call the Othello Police Department at (509)-488-3314.

They added that precautions can be taken to prevent package theft. Precautions include using a smart lockbox or package delivery box, installing a video doorbell or security camera, and using pickup locations or in-store pickups.
