REARDAN, Wash. — One person is dead after a head-on crash involving a car and a garbage truck near Reardan.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a car traveling west on Highway 2, just west of Stroup Road, attempted to pass traffic when it crashed head-on with an eastbound garbage truck. WSP said the truck slowed down and tried to move right to avoid the car, but the two vehicles crashed and caught fire upon impact.
Highway 2 remains closed as crews continue cleanup and investigation, with detours in place around the scene.

REARDAN, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 2 near Reardan, causing the road to be fully shut down.
According to WSP, a car and a garbage truck collided on Highway 2 just west of Stroup Road. Both vehicles caught fire, and one person has been confirmed dead.
Troopers said the roadway is completely blocked, and detours are in place. Drivers are asked to avoid the area as additional traffic control units respond to the scene.
