OKLAHOMA — Oklahoma State University has been fined $50,000 by the Big 12 Conference following inappropriate chants directed at Brigham Young University players during a men’s basketball game last week, according to Associated Press.

The fine resulted from fans yelling hateful statements about Mormons after the game. BYU is a Mormon-based university. The head basketball coach said, “It was when they lost the game 99-92 … he began to hear vulgar language – referencing Mormons.”

Oklahoma State University stated to AP News that they will pay the fine and not contest it, as the acts against religion do not align with the university’s expectations.
