The Red Cross has opened a shelter at the Eagle Gym at the Liberty Bell High School, 18 Twin Lakes Road, Winthrop.

WINTHROP, Wash. — A Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation order has been issued for the area around Stud Horse Mountain due to an active wildfire.
According to Okanogan County Emergency Management, the evacuation order affects the region from the Pearrygin Lake side halfway down the Winthrop side, as of 4:30 p.m.
Residents are urged to evacuate immediately to the north, away from the fire. Officials stress that this may be the only warning issued and advise against waiting for door-to-door notifications.
Emergency crews are responding to the scene, and residents are urged to exercise caution. Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
WINTHROP, Wash. – Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM) issued level two, “Be Ready,” evacuation orders for a fire near Stud Horse Mountain Road.
The fire is spreading quickly, and officials urged the public to stay alert and leave if they feel unsafe. Caution is advised around emergency vehicles responding to the scene.
