
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Numerica Skate Ribbon in Riverfront Park has temporarily shut down due to unprecedented heat, high winds and debris.
Accoridng to a press release from City of Spokane Parks and Recreation, typically, the cooling machinery can maintain the ice ribbon at temperatures of 45°F or lower. However, the unusual weather has forced a prolonged closure.
Staff anticipate resuming ice building by next week, with a tentative reopening date of December 20. Updates will be provided as weather conditions are monitored.
While the skate ribbon is closed, other park attractions remain open. The Gesa Pavilion will host the Holiday Village from today through Sunday, featuring over 50 local vendors and festive entertainment.
