Northwest Republicans would vote down spending bill if public lands sell off included

WASHINGTON D.C.- Members of congress from our region are coming together with the goal of stopping Senator Mike Lee from Utah, the members have sent a letter to the speaker of the house.

Congressman Ryan Zinke of Montana, Congressman Mike Simpson of Idaho and Congressman Dan Newhouse of Washington with two other members are telling the speaker if the provision to sell public lands is in the bill and it reaches the house floor—they will be forced to vote no.

The letter explains that they have deep concerns about the senate bill – and that the “Byrd Rule,” makes it very clear along with the senate parliamentarian—that the language is out of order.

The group of Mountain West in Pacific Northwest Lawmakers totals 5 votes— a simple majority is 218, the republicans currently have 220 seats, meaning they have the power to kill the bill in the house.

The members of congress say in their letter that they support the fiscal agenda of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” but that this language involving the sell off of public lands needs to be stripped from the bill.
