SPOKANE, Wash. — An alert neighbor helped deputies catch a suspect in an attempted burglary last week, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said in a release.

The incident began on January 21, 2026, when deputies responded to a possible burglary reported by the neighbor in the 6300 block of N. Normandie Street.

The neighbor saw the 33-year-old suspect trying to pry open a window to enter a home, SCSO said.

Deputies said they found evidence, including a bucket and pole, supporting the neighbor’s account. They also reviewed camera footage that corroborated the observations, but could not find the suspect.

On January 23, 2026, a neighbor reported the suspect returned, throwing rocks at a house, vehicles and a fence, SCSO said.

Deputies responded and arrested the suspect on residential burglary and malicious mischief charges.

Nonstop Local typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged.
