COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – North Idaho College (NIC) has successfully regained its accreditation status after a three-year effort to achieve good standing, NIC said in a release.
This development was announced during a special board meeting with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) on Monday, February 9.
The outcome comes three years after the college was placed on show cause due to dysfunction within its previous board of trustees and failure to meet governance standards.
NIC President Nick Swayne highlighted the college’s achievements despite facing obstacles. He noted that enrollment has increased.
“Regaining good standing is a testament to the strength and perseverance of NIC students, employees and community,” Swayne said. “The strength of this college lies in its people, those who refused to give up and stood firm against the chaos. With the distractions behind us, we can now focus entirely on delivering the quality education and opportunities our students expect and deserve.”
The community college is now in good standing and is set to resume business as usual.
