NORTH IDAHO – Residents in North Idaho will soon face higher fees for criminal background checks starting January 1, 2025.
According to a report, the cost for a statewide fingerprint-based criminal background check will increase from $20 to $25. Fees for national fingerprint-based background checks will rise as well.
Applicants for initial concealed weapons licenses, employment screening and licensure, and employees covered under the National Child Protection Act will now pay $37.
State officials stated that the fee increase is necessary to support Idaho’s legal responsibilities and meet the growing demand for accurate criminal history checks.
