
SPOKANE, Wash. – A non-injury collision occurred late on January 22, 2026, involving a private vehicle and a Washington Department of Transportation truck.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place at 11 p.m. on I-90 at Division. Jake Burgess, 34, from Colbert, was driving a 2012 Jeep Patriot when it collided with a state attenuator truck driven by Russel Witting, 48, from Spokane.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound in the same lane when the collision occurred. The Jeep Patriot driven by Burgess was totaled, while the truck sustained reportable damage.
The cause of the accident was attributed to excessive speed and driving under the influence. Drugs or alcohol were involved, leading to a DUI charge for Burgess.
No injuries were reported in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
