
PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. – A 61-year-old man drowned at Davis Lake near Highway 211, the second drowning in as many days in Pend Oreille County.
Sheriff’s investigators said David W. Harvey from Newport was fishing during the early morning hours of July 14 when he fell into the water.
A female friend called 911 to report she tried to help Harvey but was unable to pull him out, the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
Sheriff patrol deputies, along with Pend Oreille County Fire District 4 and Sheriff’s Office Marine units, conducted a search using rescue boats.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) dive team recovered Harvey’s body from 13 feet of water using sonar equipment, the release said.
Sheriffs deputies urge caution and advise wearing life vests when near water.
Over the weekend, the body of a Deer Park man was recovered by the SCSO Marine Division from Horseshoe Lake in Pend Oreille County.
