NEWPORT, Wash. – A Newport man, John L. Rosen, is facing charges, including murder and rape, following the discovery of a woman chained up and a dead man.
Rosen was arrested on June 6, and now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment.
The investigation began on June 5, when deputies responded to a welfare check at 334 Fertile Valley Road in Newport.
Spokane County deputies received a report that a woman was chained to a motorhome on the property, and that Rosen and another man, “Chaz,” had shot someone and buried the body.
Deputies found a woman chained inside a motorhome. She initially agreed with Rosen’s claim of role play but later told police she was afraid and not role-playing.
She alleged that Rosen and Jesse Still had shot her boyfriend, Austin D. Tinsley, and buried him in a hole.
Deputies discovered Tinsley’s body in a hole on the property.
The woman also accused Rosen and Still of raping her and chaining her up. She identified Still in a photo lineup as the person who killed Tinsley and raped her.
Rosen was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for an interview but chose to exercise his right to an attorney. The investigation is ongoing, and Rosen remains in custody at the Pend Oreille County Jail.
