OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission has approved a new game management plan, setting the course for managing hunted species in the state. The commission voted unanimously last week in Olympia to finalize the extensive plan.
The document, spanning more than 200 pages, outlines goals for managing species that people hunt or trap. It also guides how the department monitors wildlife populations.
The plan covers over 50 species, including deer, elk, bear and cougar, as well as many game birds.
It incorporates input from the public and tribal communities and will be updated as needed to address new challenges or information.
