OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington businesses will see changes to their tax reporting requirements starting Oct. 1.
According to a release by the Department of Revenue, letters are being sent to over 90,000 businesses notifying them of the new legislation.
Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5814 expands the definition of “retail sale” to include several business services.
These services now subject to retail sales tax include information technology, custom website development, investigation, security, armored car services, temporary staffing, advertising, live presentations and custom software sales.
The Department of Revenue is urging businesses involved in these activities to review the changes on its website.
