SPOKANE, WA – A new shelter opened this week in Spokane, designed specifically for LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing homelessness.
Jewels Helping Hands launched the Aurora Center, giving people a safe, welcoming space where they can feel seen and valued. Julie Garcia, the founder, shared photos on Facebook showing the center’s interior and some of the services available.
The Aurora Center operates 24/7 and partners with local organizations to connect clients with medical care, hot meals, addiction treatment, housing support, and other resources.
Leaders say having a dedicated space for the community builds connection and belonging, which can have a big impact on mental health and recovery.
The center accepts clients by referral only. Anyone in need of support can call 509-710-9643.
