New art installation celebrates Spokane’s downtown stories

SPOKANE, Wash. – A new art installation by Italian expressionist Monet Lyons is now on display at River Park Square.

The Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) collaborated with Lyons on the installation, titled “Free Love Letters,” which is described as “an artistic tribute to the city’s urban core.”

Community members are encouraged to participate by sharing their own stories about downtown Spokane. These stories will contribute to the installation’s ongoing development, creating what DSP calls a “living, breathing tribute to downtown.”

“There is so much to love about our downtown,” Elisabeth Hooker, DSP’s Vice President of Marketing and Programming said. “We want to hear from those who experience it daily, its excitement, its flaws, its hidden gems. This is a celebration of downtown in all its complexity, told through the language of art and community.”
