Joshua Aaron launched an app called “ICE Block” in April to help users stay informed about Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. The app emerged amidst increased enforcement by the Trump administration.
Aaron described the app as an “early warning system” that lets users alert others about ICE activities in their vicinity. He emphasized that it should not be used to interfere with ICE operations or incite violence.
However, the acting director of ICE criticized the app, suggesting it might endanger agents. The White House also commented on the potential risks.
“This would be an incitement of further violence against our ICE officers, as you know, as you stated, there’s been a 500% increase in violence against ICE agents, law enforcement officers across the country who are just simply trying to do their jobs,” Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, said.
Aaron stated the app is free and he has no plans to monetize it.
