NESPELEM, Wash.- The State of Washington awarded a grant in the amount of $500,00 to the development of the Inchelium Skate Park, according to the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

Previously, the Colville Tribes applied for Local Park funding under the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program, which falls under the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office.

In order to earn the grant money, tribes have to complete cultural resources requirements and obtain approval of design plans.

The Chairman of the Confederated Tribes, Jarred- Michael Erickson expressed his gratitude.

“I want to thank the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for their generous grant, and I want to thank our tribal staff and others who applied for this grant and who worked hard every day to improve our community,” said Erikson.

“The Colville Business Council believes it is important to have healthy recreational options available for young people,” Erikson added.
