WASHINGTON, D.C. – Recent findings reveal that the deployment of National Guard troops to several U.S. cities by the Trump administration cost taxpayers roughly $496 million from June through December.
The Congressional Budget Office shared this information with Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon. According to their estimates, if these deployments continue through 2026, costs could rise to more than $1.1 billion.
These deployments took place in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Memphis, Portland and Chicago.
The White House stated that these deployments helped reduce crime in the respective cities.
