
SPOKANE, Wash. – Logan P. Ortiz, 30, was sentenced on Friday to 87 months in prison after chasing a woman down the street and attacking her, according to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred in June 2024. According to court documents, Ortiz visited his former girlfriend’s house two days after leaving prison. Upon entering the house, Ortiz removed his clothes, and his former girlfriend asked him to leave. Ortiz then began to strangle the victim.
She managed to break free and attempted to leave the house, but Ortiz caught up and again began to strangle her. The victim was able to get outside and run down the street, as a naked Ortiz chased her. In a neighbor’s yard, Ortiz continued his attempts to strangle her.
Court documents reported that when law enforcement responded to the incident and attempted to arrest Ortiz, he resisted and punched an officer.
In the Spokane County Court, Ortiz pleaded guilty to first degree burglary, two counts of second degree assault, third degree assault, harassment, violation of a no contact order and attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer.
In addition to the seven year prison sentence and 18 months of community custody, Spokane County Superior Court Judge Rachelle Anderson issued a no contact order with the victim for life.
