MEAD, Wash. – Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard park announced Wednesday it will delay its 2025-26 season opening due to weather.
“While the team has been prepared to open this weekend, a shift in temperatures and moisture has raised the snow level, and the forecast calls for a stretch of warm, wet weather,” Mt. Spokane wrote in a press release.
Due to such weather conditions, the ski resort said that current snow on the mountain will not hold up appropriately.
“This is a tough hit for our team and for everyone eager to get back on the mountain,” General Manager Jim van Loben Sels said. “Late December openings aren’t unusual, and while it’s a slow start, it does not mean we don’t expect an exceptional winter.”
Mt. Spokane said it would continue to monitor conditions and provide updates.
“There’s still plenty of precipitation in the forecast,” van Loben Sels said, “we just need temperatures to drop, and when they do, we’ll be ready.”
