MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Moses Lake Education Association (MLEA) members have approved the new contract with the Moses Lake School District (MLSD). The agreement received a 99.9% vote after a general membership meeting at Moses Lake High School on Monday.

MLEA President Heather Whittall expressed satisfaction with the agreement.

“On Friday, the district came to the table open to compromise and ready to bargain in good faith,” Whittall said. The contract will reportedly provide stability for the next three years.

Despite the positive outcome, Whittall noted disappointment about not restoring the elementary day through bargaining. She emphasized ongoing efforts to advocate for the restoration of the elementary school day and programs.

“We will continue our ongoing efforts on every other front to advocate for immediate restoration of the elementary school day and programs,” Whittall said. “Restoring the elementary day is critical for this community.”

Ryan Shannon, MLSD Director of Public Relations, released a statement on Tuesday regarding the new agreement.

“Moses Lake School District and the Moses Lake Education Association reached a tentative agreement last Friday, and we are pleased that MLEA members voted to ratify it last night,” Shannon said. “This marks an important step forward for our students, families, and staff. The MLSD Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, December 10, to discuss and take action on the agreement. We are grateful for our community’s patience and support throughout this process and look forward to moving ahead together.”
