
MOSES LAKE, Wash. – The Moses Lake School District (MLSD) announced changes to bus routes following the emergency closure of the I-90 Hansen Road overpass (Exit 174) due to structural issues. According to a Facebook post by MLSD, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) identified the deterioration during a recent inspection.
The overpass closure will begin Saturday, January 17, at 6:00 a.m. and will remain closed indefinitely for public safety. WSDOT plans to conduct further inspections and testing on Monday, January 19. Currently, there is no estimated timeline for repairs or reopening.
MLSD’s Transportation Department is implementing a temporary transportation plan from Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 23, 2026. A more permanent plan will be shared by Friday, January 23.
Morning pick-up times for general education students will remain unchanged. However, all Laguna area students will use bus route #00 in the morning.
For afternoon routes, Frontier Middle School and high school students will transfer to route #00 at Peninsula. Peninsula Elementary students will also use bus #00 in the afternoon. Updated drop-off times for all grade levels in the Laguna area are as follows:
– Sage & Laguna at 3:52 p.m.
– Camas & Sand Dune at 3:57 p.m.
– Sand Dune & Lupine at 3:58 p.m.
– Sand Dune & Astor Loop at 4:00 p.m.
Families of Special Education students in Mae Valley will receive individualized information directly from the SPED routing team.
MLSD advises families to expect potential variations in bus times as traffic patterns adjust. The district expressed gratitude for the community’s patience and understanding during this period.
