MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Grant County Deputies arrested a 27-year-old Moses Lake man yesterday for attempted murder earlier that week.
Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested Luis Angel Ortega around 10:30 a.m. on suspicion of first degree assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree robbery and second degree attempted murder.
Ortega charges were related to an incident on August 1 at a home on Kathy Drive Northeast.
The victim said that Ortega hit him on the head with a handgun and tried to shoot him, but was unsuccessful because the gun jammed.
The victim escaped and called for help. Later, they were able to get to the hospital to get treatment for their head wound. They said that their gold necklace and gold bracelet were taken during the attack.
Moses Lake Police worked with Deputies to look for Ortega over the weekend.
Eventually, they tracked Ortega to Grant County and arrested him during a traffic stop east of Moses Lake.
