SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – A deputy with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle on the morning of July 5, 2025, SCSO said in a release.
Investigators said the incident began around 3:10 a.m. on Freya Avenue when a car approached the deputy’s marked patrol vehicle, flashing high beams and following closely.
The driver failed to stop for the deputy, instead slowing to speeds below the limit and making erratic movements. Despite attempts to avoid a high-speed chase, the deputy reactivated his lights as the driver continued to drive hazardously, SCSO said in the release.
Deputies deployed spike strips, deflating the car’s tires and used a PIT maneuver to stop the driver after he hit mailboxes.
The driver was taken into custody without further incident after confirming his identity. He had been reported missing on July 4, 2025, after leaving his adult family home in Spokane Valley, SCSO said.
He was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges including Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. His bail is set at $2,500.
