SPOKANE, Wash. – A Michigan man from Eastern Washington was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison on charges of producing and distributing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

In 2019, Daniel Solis lived with his girlfriend in Eastern Washington where he abused and manipulated her, including logging into her social media and phone.

Solis then moved to Michigan where he continued manipulating his girlfriend, eventually resulting in his girlfriend agreeing to make sexually explicit videos involving a child for Solis in order to appease him.

Later, in February 2020, Solis became angry that his girlfriend had told her mother that he had access to their family phone plan. In response, Solis threatened to report his girlfriend to police for the videos she had created unless she made more, giving specific instructions for the new videos.

At a later point, Solis became angry again, logged into her phone’s account and sent the videos to her co-workers and friends.

Solis went to trial on Nov. 4, 2024. He pleaded guilty on the second day after the U.S. Attorney’s Office showed a text conversation between him and his co-defendant discussing the sexual abuse of a child.

U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice sentenced Solis to 40 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and restitution of $615.
