BOISE, Idaho – Attorney General Raúl Labrador said the conviction of a 54-year-old Meridian man sends a clear message about Idaho’s commitment to prosecuting those who exploit children.
Brandon Taro, 54, was found guilty of three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by possessing sexually exploitative material, the AG’s office announced.
Taro was sentenced on May 28, 2025, by Ada County District Judge Nancy Baskin. He received a 20-year sentence, with 2½ years fixed and 17½ years indeterminate. Taro must also register as a sex offender.
“Idaho will use every tool at our disposal to protect children and hold predators accountable,” Labrador stated.
According to the AG’s press release, the investigation began in September 2024 when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received a CyberTip identifying Taro’s online account as being involved in the exchange of child sexual abuse material. Investigator Lauren Lane obtained account information from the electronic service provider, confirming Taro as the account owner.
After obtaining search warrants, officers searched Taro’s home and digital devices. Forensic examiners located multiple files depicting minors, some as young as six, and chat logs showing disturbing conversations, the release said.
The investigation assisted by the Boise Police Department, the Meridian Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations
