BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced the arrest of a Meridian man accused of possessing child sexual exploitation material.
Investigators with the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrested 30-year-old Austin Sypert on Tuesday, Oct. 8, for three counts of possession of sexually exploitative material.
“My ICAC Unit is making more arrests than ever before, and we will not stop pursuing those who harm children,” Labrador said. “I’m grateful for our law enforcement partners who share our commitment to protecting Idaho families.”
The Meridian Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and an ICAC investigator from the Nampa Police Department assisted in the arrest.
Anyone with information about child exploitation is urged to contact local police, the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit at 208-947-8700, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.
The ICAC Task Force includes federal, state, and local agencies that work together to investigate and prosecute internet crimes against children.
The charges are only accusations, and Sypert is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
