
SPOKANE, Wash. – This Memorial Day, several events across Spokane, Post Falls, and Coeur d’Alene will honor and remember those who served in the military.
In Spokane, the Fairmount Memorial Association is hosting the 6th Annual Heroes’ Breakfast & Flag Cruise on Monday, May 26. The event begins with a Heroes’ Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral & Cremation, located at 508 N Government Way. The breakfast costs $3 per person but is free for veterans and service personnel, with all proceeds benefiting the Spokane Police Chaplaincy. Following the breakfast, attendees can join the Flag Cruise at 10:00 a.m., featuring a procession through Riverside Memorial Park and Fairmount Memorial Park.
In Post Falls, the City of Post Falls and American Legion Post #143 will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery, located at 2834 N. Spokane Street. The ceremony will honor the brave men and women who lost their lives in service to the country.
In Coeur d’Alene, the CDA Wings Chapter of Women in Aviation will pay tribute to Women Airforce Service Pilots (W.A.S.P.) at the Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 North Government Way. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. Attendees can participate in a short reading about the W.A.S.P. and a group photo and toast.
Additionally, the State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash. will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The ceremony, starting at 11:00 a.m., will be held at 21702 West Espanola Rd. A musical prelude will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs invites all community members, veterans, and families to attend. Due to limited parking, carpooling is encouraged.
For those looking to reflect and close out the day, Heroes Homestead in Clayton, Wash. will host a Night of Reflection with a fire pit gathering in the evening. Light refreshments will be available, and activities for children will be provided.
These events offer community members the opportunity to honor and remember veterans in meaningful ways.
