Medical groups file lawsuit to reverse CDC vaccine guideline changes

More than half a dozen medical groups, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians, are challenging recent changes made to the CDC’s childhood vaccine recommendations.

The groups filed a lawsuit on Monday, calling the updated guidelines “reckless” and “dangerous.”

The new guidelines recommend children receive vaccines for 11 diseases, a reduction from the previous 17.

Notably, the updated recommendations no longer universally advise vaccinations for rotavirus, hepatitis A and B, meningitis, RSV, COVID and the flu.
