SPOKANE, Wash. – Mayor Lisa Brown released a statement on Pride weekend this morning, wishing everyone “a joyful and safe Pride.”
“Pride was borne out of protest, and it stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility, equality, and the right of every person to express themselves freely,” she said.
“Everyone deserves the ability to exercise their First Amendment rights – whether that is though celebration, protest, or peaceful assembly. Year after year, Spokane Pride is a safe, welcoming event and that is exactly what we are planning for again this year,” she continued, “Happy Pride to all who are celebrating.”
