CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. – As the search for Travis Decker continues, law enforcement has noted a “reduced footprint” in the manhunt resulting from a decrease in leads and tips shared by the public about Decker’s possible whereabouts.
According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the focus of detectives and law enforcement agencies remains on the Blewett Pass and Enhancements area between Chelan and Kittitas Counties.
The search efforts were described as “exhaustive,” utilizing swift water teams, multiple K9 teams with a variety of disciplines, air assets and personnel on foot. Despite these efforts, no tangible information has been uncovered to suggest that Decker is alive, or dead.
Recently, law enforcement honed their search on the Blewett Pass area, north of Mineral Springs campground.
“The potential evidence and intelligence gathered in this area are inconclusive, meaning we cannot confirm any of the information is directly associated with Mr. Decker,” CCSO stated on Friday evening.
Officials urged members of the public to remain vigilant during any outdoor pursuits, specifically as bear hunting season opens in August. Decker should be considered armed and dangerous. Any suspicious activity, persons or items encountered should be reported to 911.
“We also ask those who do come across something to mark the location using GPS or other marking form if they are able to, and even take pictures if it is safe,” CCSO added.
A reward of up to $20,000 is still being offered by the United States Marshals Service for information leading directly to Decker’s arrest. Information can be shared with the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102, or on the USMS Tips website.
