Man who suffered heart attack during Drew Lynch comedy show in Spokane has died

SPOKANE, Wash. — The man who suffered a heart attack during a has died.

According to a post from Lynch, the man, identified as Mr. Wende, passed away. Lynch shared a statement on his Facebook page reflecting on Wende’s life and their friendship.

“This one is tough,” Lynch wrote. “As some of you know, a man survived a heart attack at one of my shows a few months ago. That man was Mr. Wende.”

Lynch said that he got to know Wende and his family after the incident, describing him as a gentle and humble person who worked as a speech therapist for more than 50 years. He said Wende was a father and grandfather whose faith and family meant everything to him.

Lynch said that he visited Wende in Spokane last week with close friends for what would be their final visit.

In September, Lynch posted a video praising audience members who rushed to help Wende after he suffered a heart attack during the show. Audience members administered aid until first responders arrived and transported him to a hospital.

Lynch said he and other comedians later visited Wende during his hospitalization.
