Man sentenced to 12 years in prison for DUI crash that killed 2 Spokane high school students

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane Valley man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a

34-year-old Jesse J. Roullier pled guilty two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault.

On July 13, 2024, Roullier was driving northbound on State Route 27 near Rockford when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming car carrying three Lewis and Clark students head-on, according to a press release from the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office.

Two of the students, Rogan Murrell and Jayneat Morgan, were killed in the crash. The third passenger, Noah Laitenen, was seriously injured.

Roullier told police at the scene that he had been drinking at a casino. A blood alcohol test showed he was nearly two times over the legal limit.

Roullier has three prior felony convictions in Spokane.
