SPOKANE, Wash. – Erik Milton, 44, made his first court appearance on charges of first-degree assault and hit-and-run. He is accused of intentionally running a motorcyclist off the road last Friday.
In court, an advocate for the motorcyclist urged the commissioner to keep Milton in jail.
“He inflicted injuries on me that could potentially have been life-threatening and tried to run me over on two separate occasions for no apparent reason,” the advocate said.
The incident reportedly occurred near West Sunset Highway and South Geiger Boulevard around 3:30 p.m. According to court documents, the motorcyclist saw Milton stopped on the roadside, allegedly throwing trash from his vehicle.
The motorcyclist pulled over to photograph Milton’s license plate to report him. Milton then allegedly reversed toward the motorcyclist, who swerved back onto the road to avoid being hit.
The motorcyclist claims Milton pursued him at high speed, eventually hitting his back tire and forcing him off the road. Milton is currently held on a $125,000 bond.
Milton is scheduled to return to court for arraignment on May 28.
