Man dies after falling from electric scooter, hit by semi-truck in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man died early Saturday after falling off an electric scooter and being hit by a semi-truck in Spokane.

According to the Spokane Police Department, around 2:20 a.m. two men were riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk near Division Street and Dalton Avenue. As they traveled northbound, the man riding as a passenger lost his balance and fell into the roadway. The driver of the scooter fell to the right, back toward the sidewalk.

As the passenger fell into the road, a semi-truck traveling north on Division struck him.

Police said the semi driver stopped and attempted to render aid. Officers and Spokane Fire personnel also tried life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

Investigators said the semi driver was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment. The area around the crash was closed for several hours during the investigation.
