Man dies after car hits moose on Highway 395 near Loon Lake

LOON LAKE, Wash. – A man died after crashing into a moose near Loon Lake on Sept. 1, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 8:15 p.m. when a car traveling north on U.S. Highway 395 struck a moose that had entered the roadway. The vehicle came to rest off the northbound shoulder.

The driver, identified as 71-year-old Raymond Duxbury, died at the scene, WSP said.

The condition of the moose is unknown.
