Man arrested on trespassing and gun charges after standoff on Spokane’s South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was arrested on trespassing and gun charges after a standoff in the South Hill neighborhood on Wednesday night.

According to a press release from the Spokane Police Department, a woman called 911 at around 6:30 p.m. to report a friend was at her house on East 39th Avenue asking for a gun and she was concerned by his behavior.

The woman had left the location with her children and multiple guns, but advised that one gun was still inside the house.

SPD said the man was already a suspect in a firearm theft incident from December 13.

Multiple units responded to the house, including SWAT, K-9, hostage negotiators and air support.

According to SPD, the man walked out of the house to surrender to officers at around 9:30 p.m.

He was charged for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and criminal trespass in the first degree.
