SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was arrested in Connecticut on December 16 for two counts of rape that allegedly took place in Spokane, according to the Spokane Police Department.

According to a social media post from SPD, the Special Victim’s Unit opened an investigation into allegations against Ryan M. Cheek in July. SPD said they believed he fled Spokane for his home state of Connecticut after learning of the investigation.

SPD said they uncovered video evidence that corroborated the allegations and depicted Cheek exposing himself to a minor.

A warrant was issued for Cheek’s arrest for eight counts, including two counts of second-degree rape, on December 11. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and local authorities in Connecticut on December 16.

“In the coming weeks, SVU detectives will travel to Connecticut to assist in Cheek’s extradition to Spokane to face charges,” SPD said.
