SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — One person was arrested for stabbing a man at a home on North Stout Lane in Spokane County.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, calls came in at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday from a man who claimed to be stabbed.
When deputies arrived, the suspect, 53-year-old Owen P.T. Githua said he did not stab the man, instead claiming the victim stabbed himself.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s office says the victim had been living with Githua for about a week.
On Friday evening, the two went to a bar together and later returned home. The victim said everything seemed fine when he went to take a nap, but he woke up to Githua knocking on his door.
The victim claims Githua said something to the effect of “Who are you? Who do you think you are?” before stabbing him in the abdomen with a knife.
The Sheriff’s Office says the victim armed himself with a pocketknife as he called 911.
Githua was booked into Spokane County Jail for felony assault charges.
This is an ongoing investigation.
