SPOKANE, Wash. – A man who attempted to evade Spokane Police is now in jail following a dramatic chase.

Carl Lindsey, 48, faces multiple charges, including hit and run, after leading police on a chase Wednesday.

The incident involved at least six patrol cars and a helicopter, Air 1, to track him down.

The pursuit began with a report of a drive-by shooting near North Central High School. Officers spotted Lindsey driving northbound on Lincoln and westbound on 2nd Avenue after reports of him waving a gun near 3rd Avenue and Monroe Street.

Lindsey initially pulled over near Heritage Funeral Home on North Government Way but fled northbound after being informed he was under arrest. According to the arrest affidavit, he reached speeds of 80 miles per hour.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office released a video from Air 1 showing officers and deputies closing in on Lindsey in a neighborhood. The footage captures him being tased and falling to the ground before being taken into custody near Nettleton Street and Kiernan Avenue.

In court Thursday, it was revealed that Lindsey has more than a dozen prior criminal convictions, including failure to appear, failure to register as a sex offender, and bail jumping. His bail is set at $20,000 with an arraignment date scheduled for February 24.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the alleged shooting incident.
