SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following a domestic violence incident that prompted a police standoff near West Spokane, according to the Spokane Police Department (SPD).
SPD responded to an apartment on West Elliot Drive, after receiving a 911 call about an assault that caused a female victim to leave the apartment and seek medical treatment. When officials learned the names of the individuals involved, they discovered a no-contact order between the victim and the suspect.
SPD officers were initially informed that the male suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Sergio Orduno-Gallego, was inside the apartment with two small children. This triggered the deployment of specialty units, including SWAT and the Hostage Negotiators Team (HNT).
However, it was later confirmed that no children were present. HNT established contact with Gallegos, who eventually surrendered to law enforcement and left the apartment. He was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. without further issue.
SPD reported that Gallegos was booked into Spokane County Jail for a felony violation of a domestic violence no-contact order and two counts of assault.
