GRANT PARK, Ill. – Chad Torres, 29, appeared in court facing charges of rape, kidnapping and child molestation. The charges stem from an incident reported a month ago involving a 12-year-old girl.
An advocate represented the victim’s parents in court. According to court documents, Torres allegedly added the victim as a friend on Snapchat and lured her to meet him in person with the promise of giving her a vape pen.
When they met, Torres reportedly forced the girl into his car and drove her to Grant Park, where he is accused of raping her. Documents state that he then threatened to harm her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Torres is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
